OBITUARY (For Immediate Release) Dateline: Williamsport, IN Margaret Mae (Miller) Garriott, age 82 of Williamsport, died at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2012 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. Margaret was born on April 11, 1930 in Attica, IN. She was the daughter of Homer and Gladys (Patterson) Miller. She was a 1947 graduate of Williamsport High School. On May 21, 1948 she married James Garriott at the Williamsport United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on October 1, 2008. She lived in the Locust Grove area for 38 years before moving to Williamsport in 1993. Margaret served on the Warren County Fair Board and was a 4-H Warren County Leader for Prairie Township. In her later years she continued her ongoing community involvement as a member of the Williamsport United Methodist Church and their Women’s Group, Locust Grove Women’s Group, Literary Group, Senior Group, TOPS, and Upper Level Group serving as an officer in many of the organizations. She was a volunteer at the Williamsport Hospital gift shop and enjoyed reading and walking. She worked as school secretary and teacher’s aide at the Locust Grove School for 3 years and also was the school treasurer, as a bookkeeper for Hotts Lumber Co. for 1 year, the Indiana Highway Department and took early retirement from Indiana Gas Company in 1990 when the office closed. She later worked part time for the newspaper office in Williamsport and Country Care Nursing Center in Attica. Margaret was devoted to her church and family. Surviving are, 3 children, Margy Garvais (husband: Phil) of Marrietta, GA; James Joe Garriott (wife: Rita) of Boswell, IN; and Penny Leuck (husband: Gene) of Lafayette, IN 9 grandchildren, Kem Flynn, Nancy Little, Katy Woods, Frank Thrift, Erin Thrift, Jennifer Greeson, Jim Leuck, Dan Leuck, and Abigail Leuck 9 great-grandchildren, Jesse Little, Shelby Fox, Sam Little, Alissa Greeson, Sadie Thrift, Charlie Little, Allie Fox, Gage Greeson, and Stella Thrift Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Kathy Booth, and 2 brothers, Robert & Paul Miller. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Monday, December 17, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be there in the chapel on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Cathy McCoy officiating. Interment will follow at Locust Grove Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Williamsport United Methodist Church or Locust Grove United Methodist Church.
