James "Jim" L. Allen

James L. “Jim” Allen, age 69 of Attica, IN died, surrounded by his loving family, at 9:46 p.m. on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at IU Health Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, IN. Jim was born on July 15, 1943 in Williamsport, IN. He was the son of Clyde and Leatha (Stetler) Allen. He was a 1961 graduate of Attica High School. On September 26, 1964 he married Wilma S. Morrow in Attica, IN. He was a lifelong resident of Attica. Jim retired in 2007 as a plant superintendent from Harrison Steel Casting Co. after 47 years of service. He was a member of the FOE #2596 Attica and the Harrison Hills Country Club where he was an avid golfer. He enjoyed mushroom hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening and his fruit trees. He was also an avid hunter where he gained the nickname “Hawkeye”. Surviving with his wife, Wilma, are, 2 children, John D. Allen (wife: Joanna) of Attica and Vickie L. Strickler (husband: Kevin) of Williamsport; 1 brother, Ronnie Allen (wife: Nancy) of West Point, IN; 9 sisters, Margaret Bowles, Nancy Woods, Betty Schackman, Linda Karns, Tracy Cushman, Cindy Strickland, Julie White, Kris Simons, and Lori Estes; 10 grandchildren, Seth Brooks (wife: Leslie), Lee Stricker, Aaron Brooks (wife: Kim), Justin Capps, Andy Strickler, Shawn Allen, Katie Ferguson (husband: Curtis), Britney Capps, Jordan Capps, Megan Allen; and 4 great-grandchildren, Ivy Jasper, Holden Brooks, Paisley Brooks, and Karter Brooks. Visitation will be at the Williamsport Christian Church on Sunday, September 30, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Services will be there on Monday, October 1, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jesse Stoner officiating and eulogy and Jim Bunch officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery in Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Town of Williamsport Summer Park Program.
