H. Park Hunter

February 23, 1919 — October 31, 2007

H. Park Hunter, age 88 formerly of rural Williamsport, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at 1:39 P.M. at his home at Westminster Village in West Lafayette. Park was born in Williamsport on February 23, 1919 to Herbert and Shirley (Clark) Hunter. On June 4, 1941 he married Anna Jean Crone in Williamsport. She survives. Park truly loved his farm life, and he served agricultural interests at the local, state and national levels. He had also served on Warren County Council, the Farm Bureau board and Trinity Presbyterian Church board. Park enjoyed sharing stories of his years with the 1944 undefeated Williamsport Lions baseball team of the Illinois-Indiana Baseball League. He was a graduate of Williamsport High School and Purdue University. He taught agriculture for a few years before becoming a full time farmer; some of those years included teaching the veterans’ classes in the old West Lebanon High School. He was a believer in encouraging youth and, with his wife, had established the Hunter Scholarship at the Warren County Community Foundation. Park is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years. He is also survived by his family in which he took great pride: three children, John (Candace) Hunter of rural Williamsport, Ben (Linda) Hunter of Tab, and Jeanne (Dennis) Siebers of Livermore, CA. The Hunters’ grandchildren are, Park (Anna-Lisa) Hunter, Scott (Mindy) Hunter, Amy (AJ) Booher, Becky (Troy) Wiley, John B. Hunter, Grant (Jackie) Siebers, Zach Siebers, and Anna Siebers. Great-grandchildren are Anna and Erick Hunter, Solomon, Isaac, Jonah, and Jude Hunter, Kayla and Joe Booher. Also surviving is a brother, Robert Hunter. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Major Clark Hunter, and a nephew, Major Dr. William Clark Hunter Glaze. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Saturday, November 3, 2007 from 10:00 A.M. EDT until service time at noon. Rev. Roger McDaniel will preside. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery. The family request that, in lieu of flowers, memorials might be made to the Warren County Community Foundation for the Hunter Scholarship Fund or to Trinity Presbyterian Church of West Lebanon.
