Barbara Jean (Cox) Hanson

Barbara Jean (Cox) Hanson, age 69 of Attica, formerly of West Lebanon, IN, died at 6:25 p.m. on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at Seton Specialty Hospital in Lafayette. Barbara was born in Warren County, IN on May 4, 1942. She was the daughter of Richard and Madeline (Belcher) Cox. She was a 1960 graduate of Seeger High School. She married Douglas Hanson on December 29, 1962 at her parents’ home in Hedrick, IN. She was a resident of Warren County most of her life. Barbara worked in the bakery department at the Attica IGA for 20 years. She loved watching soap operas and doing puzzles. Barbara loved collecting wind chimes and growing beautiful flowers around her home. She loved her family. Surviving are with her husband, are, 4 children, Sara Evans (husband: Dennis), Richard Hanson (wife: Theresa), Kevin Hanson (wife: Sandy), and Tammie Jean Hanson; 2 sisters, Edith Young (husband: Ken) and Beverly Cary (husband: Bob); 3 grandchildren, Tucker Evans, Christopher Hanson, and Alexander Hanson; 6 step-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, Bill Cox, and 1 sister, Norene Price. The family will receive friends at Grady Funeral Home in West Lebanon on Tuesday, April 10, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until the celebration of life service at noon with Pastor Harold Varner officiating. Inurnment will follow at West Lebanon Cemetery.
