David “Dave” Landes, age 69 of Williamsport, died on Friday, January 27, 2012 at his residence. Dave was born in Lafayette, IN on March 10, 1942. He was the son of Earl E. and Ethel (Metzger) Landes. He was a 1960 graduate of Mulberry High School. He later graduated from the State Police Academy. He married Brenda S. Stephens on September 14, 1985. She survives. Dave previously lived in Mulberry and Benton County, IN. He had resided in rural Williamsport for over 30 years. Dave worked at Alcoa after high school graduation until becoming a State Police Trooper for 24 years of service. Dave was a member of the West Lebanon Christian Church, the F & AM Lodge #352 West Lebanon where he was Past Master, Scottish Rite Terre Haute, Shriners, and Grotto. He enjoyed woodworking, farming, and loved animals, especially his cat, Stevie. His grandchildren were the love of his life. Surviving with his wife, Brenda, are His mother, Ethel Landes of Mulberry, IN 2 children, Roger Smith, Jr. (wife: Kelly) of rural Williamsport and Keith Smith (wife: Jackie) of Evansville Sisters, Nancy K. Davison (husband: Charles) of Mulberry, IN and Clara M. Cooper (husband: Bob) of Hillsboro, OR 3 grandchildren, Sydney, Jay, and Owen Smith Dave was preceded in death by his father, brother, Edward Dean Landes, and a granddaughter, Emmalee Nicole Smith. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Saturday, February 4, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until Masonic services at 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow with Pastor John Buckley officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Riley Hospital for Children.
