Dean Johnson

Donald “Dean” Johnson, age 75 of Williamsport, went to be with the Lord at 10:10 a.m. on Monday, January 2, 2012 at St. Vincent Hospital in Williamsport. He was born on January 14, 1936 in Morocco, IN to Edward Johnson and Blanche Aliss Johnson Biddle. He was a 1954 graduate of Boswell High School and attended DeVry Tech of Chicago. He married Hilda Tarter on June 15, 1958 at the Boswell Church of Christ. He owned and operated Johnson Tee Vee in Williamsport from 1956-2003. After his retirement he worked part-time for TMF as a driver. Dean had been a John Purdue Club member since 1968 and enjoyed attending Men’s and Women’s basketball games throughout the years. His morning routine included time with his “coffee buddies” at the BP coffee shop and was the official CEO of the fellow investors. Lastly, he was an active member of the Williamsport Christian Church and had roles as elder and Sunday School teacher for the past 53 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; a step-father, Loren Biddle; a brother, Gordon Johnson; and a sister, Dolee Barker Houmes. Surviving with his wife are two sons, Ty Johnson (wife, April), Monte Johnson; a daughter, Gina Duffey (husband, Mark); five grandchildren: Nolan, Kristen, C.J., and Maret Duffey and Madelin Johnson; several nieces and nephews; and one aunt, Nona Schultz. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Williamsport Christian Church. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. also at the Williamsport Christian Church. Rev. Don Williams and Dean’s son-in-law, Mark Duffey will be officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Highland Cemetery in Williamsport. Memorial contributions may be made to the Williamsport Christian Church or to His Mission, 28 N. Monroe St., Williamsport, IN 47993.
