Mildred Whitkanack

Mildred (White) Whitkanack, age 88 of rural Attica near Riverside died at 6:55 P.M. on Saturday, July 21, 2007 at St. Anthony’s Healthcare in Lafayette, IN where she resided for the past 18 months. Mildred was born in Metcalf, IL on August 17, 1918. She was the daughter of Charles and Esta (Scott) White. She lived in Metcalf, IL, Veedersburg, IN and had resided in the Riverside area since 1954. On September 25, 1937 she married Jesse Whitkanack in Bloomfield, IL. He preceded her in death on April 19, 2006. Mildred farmed with her husband on the Whitkanack Farm. She was a member of Bethel Community Church. Mildred was an excellent seamstress and cook who enjoyed cooking for family dinners. She enjoyed playing bingo and was a Tiger Woods fan. Her family was her life and she will be deeply missed by her grandson Jesse Joe whom she enjoyed and helped raise. Surviving are, 4 daughters, Anita Harris (husband: Paul) of Attica, IN; Kay Bossaer (husband: Charles) of rural Attica, IN; Sandy Grady (husband: Tom) of Attica, IN; and Brenda Whitkanack-Meyer (Husband:Bob) of rural Attica near Riverside, IN; 1 brother, Charles White of Brocton, IL; 9 grandchildren and 1 stepgrandson; 13 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse, 1 daughter, Linda Beedle, and 2 brothers, Forrest and Delbert White. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Wednesday, July 25, 2007 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. EDT. Services will be there in the chapel on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at 11: 00 a.m. EDT with Pastor Harold Holt officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Bethel Community Church.
