Robert “Bob” L. Dispennett, age 89 of Pine Village, IN, died at 10:25 p.m. on Saturday, September 17, 2011 at home where he resided with his family. Robert was born on July 19, 1922 in Williamsport, IN. He was the son of Charles and Loretta Dispennett. Robert was a Warren County resident from his childhood. He attended Williamsport High School until the passing of his father and hard times took him away to the Three “C’s” and then to the European Theater of World War II for the beginning and the duration of that war. During his military time he served in the Army under General Patton in the 11th Armored Infantry, touring in France, Belgium and Germany and received numerous campaign medals and ribbons. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and Bastogne. Robert went on to marry Martha Louise Herndon on June 22, 1946 in Williamsport. Martha passed away before Robert on September 7, 2009. They are now together once again. Robert is a member of the church of Christ and attended regularly at Williamsport. He is a member of the VFW Post #3318 Attica and the American Legion Post #259 Williamsport. He was employed at Harrison Steel for 20+ years; at the same time tried his hand at farming as well as dairy cows in the Independence area and went on to work at Purdue where he finished his employment career and became a big basketball fan. Robert and his wife raised three sons, Dave, Dan and Denny of which Robert and his wife were very influential in family values. His hobbies were visiting his family, attending and watching sports, especially Purdue ball, and watching Hee Haw on Friday night. He enjoyed retirement and we all enjoyed him. Surviving are, 3 sons, Dave Dispennett (wife: Jean) of Lafayette, IN, Dan Dispennett (wife: Jenny) of Fort Wayne, IN and Denny Dispennett (wife: Pam) of Pine Village, IN; 9 grandchildren, Rob, Scott, Doug, Heather, Shannon, Ben, Sarah, Jon, and Amanda; and 19 great-grandchildren. Robert was preceded in death by his brothers, Ed Casper, Pete Dispennett, Wilmer “Dutch” Dispennett, and Kenneth “Jack” Dispennett.
