Richard "Wayne" Owens

Richard “Wayne” Owens, age 71, of West Lebanon, died at 8:05 P.M., Thursday, June 21, 2007 at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Lafayette, IN following an illness of one year. He was born in Perrysville, IN, August 15, 1935, the son of Forrest and Irene (Shaughnessy) Owens. He had been a resident of Warren County most of his life. He graduated from West Lebanon High School. He was married June 26, 1958 in Williamsport, IN to Frieda A. Shoaf who survives. Wayne worked in the maintenance department at MSD of Warren County for 15 years and he was a farmer. He previously worked for Olin Manufacturing at Covington, IN as a coding supervisor. He served in the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. He was a member of the West Lebanon Christian Church, F&AM Lodge #352 of West Lebanon and the VFW Post #3318 of Attica, IN. Surviving with his wife Frieda are, 1 son – Kevin W. Owens (wife Mechel) of West Lebanon, IN; 1 daughter – Terri E. Eades (husband Tony) of West Lebanon, IN; 1 brother – William “Hermie” Owens (wife Mary Jane) of West Lebanon, IN; 3 sisters – Betty McKinzie (husband Wilton) of Springfield, TN, Doris Groff (husband Rudy) of rural Williamsport, IN, and Karen Layton of Greenwood, IN; 4 grandchildren – Anthony W. and Brian L. Eades, Kaylee C. and Wayne L. Owens; and 2 great-grandchildren – Elizabeth and Edward E. Eades. He was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Owens and 2 brothers, Paul and Daniel “Jim” Owens. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport, IN on Sunday, June 24, 2007 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. (EDT) with Masonic Services at 7:45 P.M. Funeral service will be there in the chapel on Monday, June 25, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. (EDT) with Minister Bruce Thornsbrough officiating. Interment will be in West Lebanon Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the West Lebanon Fire Department and Rescue.
