Carolyn Jeannette (Shoaf) Farrar, age 76, of West Lebanon died at 11:52 p.m. CDT on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center. Carolyn was born near West Lebanon, IN on December 15, 1934. She was the daughter of William James and Helen (Adams) Shoaf. She attended West Lebanon schools. On June 6, 1950 she married Ervin Lloyd Farrar in West Lebanon. He preceded her in death on October 10, 1984. Carolyn was a lifelong resident of West Lebanon, moving to Covington, IN in 2005. Carolyn was a cook at Seeger High School and had previously worked at the Williamsport nursing home and Williamsport and Covington Senior Centers. She was a member of the West Lebanon Trinity Presbyterian Church and a lifelong member of the VFW Post #3318 Attica Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crocheting and working out in her flower garden. She was a past Brownie leader in West Lebanon. Surviving are, Children, Pam Lowe (husband: Austin) of Danville, IN, Elizabeth Farrar of West Lebanon, Laura Burnam (husband: Lance) of Urbana, IL and Jeanne Paxton of Lafayette, IN Brother, Curtiss Lee Shoaf (wife: Darlene) of Rock Hill, SC, 3 sisters-in-law, Jeanine Shoaf of Williamsport, Doloris Shoaf of State Line, IN, and Evelyn Shoaf 14 grandchildren, Jim Lowe (wife: Brenda), Jason Lowe (wife: Teri), Sue Lowe, Stephanie Wynne (husband: Byron), Sabrina Schindler (husband: Scott), Samantha Wallace, Randy Ross (companion: Nina), Alyssa Ross, Andy Johnson (wife: Carrie), Jessica Cahill (husband: Cory), Caleb Johnson, Ervin Farrar, Paige Allis, and Isaiah Paxton 28 great-grandchildren Special niece, Jody Adams Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, 2 sisters, Emma Lou Knowles and Rosemary Kirby, 4 brothers, William Thomas, James “Jimmy” Shoaf , Jerry Shoaf, and Alan Shoaf, 2 grandsons, Jeremy Johnson and Ian Farrar, and 1 great-grandson, Waylon Lowe-Johnson. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Friday, August 5, 2011 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. with a VFW ladies auxiliary service at 7:45 p.m. Services will be there in the chapel on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Lauren Eicher officiating. Interment will be at West Lebanon Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association.
