James "Jimmie" Bowlus

James “Jimmie” Bowlus, age 84 of Williamsport died at 11:01 p.m. on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospital Indianapolis. Jimmie was born in rural Williamsport, IN on August 20, 1926. He was the son of James B. and Carrie (Butts) Bowlus. He attended Williamsport schools and was a Warren County resident all of his life. He served in the Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Alberta Byers and she preceded him in death on February 9, 1977. He later married Rosalie “Rose” Johnson Rayburn on February 18, 1979. She survives. Jimmie worked as a lineman and superintendent at REMC for 34 years, retiring in 1991. He was a member of the Williamsport Christian Church and a 50 year member of the F & AM Lodge #315 Pine Village. He was involved in Warren County 4-H and enjoyed watching sports. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Cattle were always a part of his life in some form. Surviving with his wife, Rose, are, son, Chad Bowlus (wife: Julie) of West Lebanon; daughter-in-law, Rhonda Bowlus of Williamsport; stepchildren, Kathy Kasubjak (husband: Chuck) of Brownsburg, IN, Tom Rayburn (wife: Kim) of Attica, and Steve Rayburn of Williamsport; sisters, Peg Crane of Attica, IN and Pat Hunter of Williamsport; grandchildren, Blaine Bowlus, Cody Bowlus, Braxton Bowlus, Brock Bowlus, Bailey O’Connor, Bryce O’Connor, Amanda Illg, Jason Kasubjak, Ryne Rayburn, Steffi Rayburn, Shea Rayburn, DeeAnn Rayburn, and Brittany Rayburn; and 1 great-granddaughter, Carter Illg. Jimmie was preceded in death by a son, Gary Blaine “Chip” Bowlus, a brother, Charlie Bowlus, and a sister, Liz Lilly. Visitation will be at Grady Funeral Home in Williamsport on Sunday, August 7, 2011 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Services will be at the Williamsport Christian Church on Monday, August 8, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Don Williams officiating. Interment will be at Highland Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to the Warren County 4-H Beef Program.
